The line going West from the Peabody Square is the Salem and Lowell. The line going to the South West is the South Reading branch.
This current map shows the Essex RR from Salem to Peabody Square and
then up to Danversport. The Salem and Lowell is show greyed out, the South
Reading branch is also shown. The S. Reading Branch now serves an industrial
park.
This is a foot bridge over the Essex Railroad in Peabody, a short distance South of the trestle. It's a fairly deep cut. At one time this was a roadbridge.
View from the footbridge. You can see the cut is deep and the line is somewhat flooded.
Looking towards the trestle, you can see a lot of water in the cut.
Looking South towards Peabody Square from the footbridge.
Another view looking South.
Just South of the Trestle, here is a large building that used to get rail service.
Here is a view of the Waters River trestle. Danvers on the right, Peabody on the left.
The company picture above is in the left hand side of the picture.
Here is a higher resolution picture of the trestle.
Here we are in Peabody Square. You can see the track cross the main
street. Where I am standing the Essex Railroad is curiving around towards
the North while the Salem and Lowell goes straight.
Looking West from Peabody Sq. It's been a while since these tracks were
used.
Looking West from Peabody Square. The Essex Railroad curves off to the right, the Salem and Lowell goes straight.
Another view of the tracks just West of Peabody Square.
