1-19-03 Sunday, cold as can be today, temp at an even zero + or - a degree or two. Didn't go by the line so I can't tell you exactly the price of gas but I think it's still right at a buck forty three.

It had been a while since I had gone out and looked at anything so I decided I'd head out today, despite the cold. I had been meaning to get up to Lawrence and look at the old Lowell and Lawrence line which now is used as an industrial park spur.

This 1947 topo shows the line in question. It's fairly close as to where there is still iron and note how it shows the line curving off to the south after the iron ends.

Well, that's good news, the line is still getting some use. This pictures was taken just beyond the route 28 crossing looking west towards the industrial park.

Evidence of a siding under the snow.

Heading into the industrial park.

Not so good view of embankment as I head up Beacon st towards the crossing.

Looking east back towards the middle of Lawrence from Beacon St crossing.

Beacon St crossing. This is an insult, the rails have been moved over to the side of the road.

Line goes even further onto the side of the road in order to be able to make a sharp curve into a consignee's property.

Crossing Glenn St and into a consignee.

Fairly sharp curve.

No sign for what company this is but there were four covered hoppers.

The power line right of way continues on but according to the topo, the rail line at this point has already curved off to the south.
